Restoring a water damaged carpet quickly is important to prevent mould, odors, and permanent damage. Start by removing excess water using towels, a wet vacuum, or a pump if the area is heavily soaked. Improve airflow by opening windows, using fans, and running a dehumidifier to dry the carpet thoroughly. Once mostly dry, sprinkle baking soda to absorb moisture and odors, then vacuum after a few hours. Clean and sanitise the carpet using a mild carpet cleaner or vinegar solution to eliminate bacteria. If the padding underneath is heavily damaged, it may need replacement. Acting fast increases the chances of saving the carpet and restoring freshness.
