A drive out to the Swan Valley is always a reminder of two things.

Firstly, it’s not far. And secondly, there are so many great places to eat and drink.

While the boozy bus crawls of Spring in the Valley are a hazy memory, now any time of year is good to visit Feral Brewing in Baskerville.

Making about 30,000 litres of beer per year — small beer compared with Feral’s 1.6 million litres — plus 10,000 litres of cider and 3500 litres of ginger beer, Ironbark owns the rights to Hannan’s Lager, which was first brewed in Kalgoorlie in 1937.

Seven very different breweries a schooner’s throw from the city.

If no one wants to be skipper, last weekend ADAMS launched the Swan Valley Explorer, a hop-on, hop-off bus service which does a 90-minute loop through the valley from Guildford Train Station.
