China-Australia decoupling could damage ‘mutual benefits’ from joint scientific research, study says

A push for decoupling between China and Australia could jeopardise not only trade, but knowledge and commercial benefits gleaned from growing research collaboration, a new report said on Tuesday. China has overtaken the United States as Australia’s leading international partner in producing scientific papers, the results of which can often be commercialised, according to the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) at the University of Technology Sydney.
