Hello There,
I have never experienced something like this in my life. The COVID-19 pandemic has created so much panic that I am unable to do my groceries without getting nervous and anxious. I have become obsessed with cleaning and have been sanitising my hands after every few hours. I have even asked professional end of lease cleaners in Melbourne to disinfect my rented house. However, the month of May was the worst as I lost my job. I had worked in my outdoor marketing firm for past five years, but my name was included in the list of layoffs as the business was going south. I was terrified as I have a family which includes three kids. I was almost crying and feeling helpless as I had little savings left due to a recent event in the family. I could not even pay the rent for the month of June. I spoke to my landlord and told him about my circumstances but he said that he could not help me much. I asked for reduction in rent but he was not willing to bring it down. I was desperate so I had to go to the dispute resolution service. Meanwhile, the landlord gave me an eviction notice. I was called for the VCAT hearing and I took along a tenancy lawyer to help with the proceedings as they are providing free service. Thankfully the matter was resolved, but it caused a lot of mental pain. Thus I urge everyone to know about the new laws to avoid getting evicted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
